(meteorology)
In international usage, a change in wind direction in a clockwise sense (for example, south to southwest to west) in either hemisphere of the earth.
According to widespread usage among United States meteorologists, a change in wind direction in a clockwise sense in the Northern Hemisphere, counterclockwise in the Southern Hemisphere.

The change of direction of wind in a clock-wise direction. The change of direction of wind in an anticlock-wise direction is known as backing . See backing .
