We numbered the segments of the derrick steel
structure number as 1-4 from top to bottom.
Micro-vacuum samples were also collected throughout homes on surfaces not suitable for surface wipes (carpets, porous furniture) using ASTM Method D 5755-03 procedures, "Micro-vacuum Sampling and Indirect Analysis of Dust by TEM for Asbestos
Structure Number Concentration (ASTM, 2009)." Ten percent field blanks were submitted for the high-volume air, surface wipes, and micro-vacuum samples.
There are only four single digit odd numbers (1, 3, 5 and 7); so these numbers represent the
structure numbers. The number 9 is a single digit odd number, but it is a composite number because it can be divided into equal segments (3 x 3 = 9), so it cannot be a
structure number.
Fixtures 5,6 and 9 are constructed according to alternative
structure number 3.
