The main advantage of the Cooper
split bearing is that the unique design makes assembly a lot easier.
This is because the Timken
split bearing unit solution features removable support caps and housing halves that make it simple to visually inspect components or replace bearings in a fraction of the time.
The machine design incorporates outboard mounted
split bearing for the lower carrier and wiper roll, which allows these rolls to be passed through the frame when changing the belt.
Standard features of National Oilwell Varco motors include integral, nonprotruding mounting pads to accommodate doweling and jacking in each pad; computer-designed fabricated steel housings to resist vibration; coatings for corrosion resistance; rigidly braced end coils to resist vibration yet accommodate thermal expansion under full load; and
split bearing brackets.
In some instances, one bearing may be cooled while the adjacent
split bearing is heated.
And a new
split bearing lets users change rolls without disassembling the stack.
These were required to ensure that the new
split bearing would be correctly secured in place.
