Spin Filter by Diemme Enologia uses disc-shaped polymeric membranes in PVDF, mounted on stainless steel supports.
Back in 2009, Chen and his research group presented a
spin filter that works at room temperature; the filter lets through electrons that have the desired spin direction and screens out the others.

A silica spin disc filter unit or a
spin filter containing silica matrix suspended in 0.75 mol/L potassium acetate (pH 4.6) containing 4 mol/L guanidine hydrochloride (50 [micro]L) was placed in a 1.5-mL microcentrifuge tube, and the plasmid DNA-containing solution was applied to the
spin filter units.

Our approach to neutron polarization relies on the use of nuclear spin polarized [.sup.3]He gas cells as a neutron
spin filter. [.sup.3]He has an extremely strong spin dependent capture cross section with essentially all capture in one spin state.

spin filter and captured in a liquid para-hydrogen target.
Due to the 1 mT holding field surrounding the experimental apparatus, the neutrons are polarized vertically after leaving the [.sup.3]He
spin filter. While taking hydrogen data, the parity violating asymmetry in n-p capture is therefore seen in a difference of the number of [gamma] rays going up and down.
