Cinnamaldehyde is a dye that stains citrulline, which is abundant in the inner
root sheath, and can be a tool in identifying its presence and/or aberrations.4 A trichogram of the pulled hairs in a patient with LAHS may classically show ruffled appearance of the cuticle, misshapen anagen hair bulbs, and absence of the inner
root sheath.
It is an immunologically-mediated disease in which autoantibodies are directed against desmoglein 3 and 1 resulting in loss of adhesions between keratinocytes.1,2 Clinically, it is characterized by flaccid blisters and erosions that usually start in oral mucosa and then involve rest of the body.1,3 Diagnosis of the disease should be established earlier in the course of the disease due to its life-threatening nature.4 Suprabasal clefting and acantholysis are histopathological hallmarks of the disease.5 Acantholysis also extends in the outer
root sheath (ORS) of hair follicle, which is structurally analogous to epidermis.
Trichilemmal keratinization and peripheral palisading are signs which represent follicular
root sheath origin of tumors.

As the supply of matrix cells declines, differentiation of hair shaft (HS) and inner
root sheath (IRS) slow down, and the follicle enters a destructive phase called catagen [12].
Another factor influencing tooth de- velopment is the status of epithelial
root sheath or the covering.
Melanocytes have been shown to migrate from the outer
root sheath of the hair follicle during development and during repigmentation of the epidermis in patients with vitiligo, thus providing evidence that they are normal cellular constituents of the hair follicle.
Hair follicle,
root sheath and the sebaceous gland can be affected by the minerals in rain water.
BCC usually originate from basal cell layer or outer
root sheath of hair follicles and it is considered as an adnexal tumor in WHO classification.1 Basal cell carcinoma usually grows slowly with local invasiveness.2 Keratinocytes are recognized to be the source of SCC.
Palato gingival grooves, also called palatoradicular grooves or radicular lingual grooves are developmental anomalies in which an infolding of the inner enamel epithelium and Hertwig's epithelial
root sheath create a groove that passes from the cingulam and extend varying distances apically on to the root.
