An interior working shaft and an
ore pass with a crushing and loading station at its bottom were raised from the 2200L adit to the Fairview mine 1148 feet (350 m) above (primary crushing continued to be done underground until the 1940s).
Good crystals of vivianite and ludlamite were also found in stopes between the 7000 and 6850 levels, north of the 491
ore pass and near the top of the Pierce winze in the Chicago zone.
On the night shift of June 8, 2011 Jason Chenier and Jordan Fram were working at an
ore pass on the 3,000 foot level of Stobie Mine.
Because of the ore's high grade, once mining has been completed in a sublevel, the floor is cleaned all the way to the
ore pass, so that any spilled gold is recovered.
Penguin's robots are being tested with the goal of removing hazardous jobs from the mine, including taking scans of an
ore pass after blasting or working near areas of liquefaction.
