The project of love is the attempt to re-establish, upon the objective plane, that original type of relation to which we gave the name 'union'.
Since it is the situation of human consciousness upon the objective plane that produces the alienation that results in a dialectical degeneration, this outcome is avoided just as soon as the self succeeds in extricating itself from the deformation represented by its placement upon the objective plane.
Recognition of the other as another self, with a mode of being of its own, transforms empathy into sympathy and, at the same time, makes it possible to realize those very ideals of Love, Friendship and Co-operation which were unrealizable upon the objective plane.
