Mycophenolate was discontinued suspecting CMV
ileitis. CMV PCR was sent.
Colonic biopsy confirmed colitis without chronicity (Figure, panel E), and ileal biopsy revealed focal active
ileitis. Because MRSA colitis is rare, the strain was sent to the Laboratoire de Sante Publique du Quebec for identification and further characterization (online Technical Appendix, https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/EID/article/23/5/ 16-1644-Techapp1.pdf).

On day 9, the patient experienced septic shock related to severe diverticulitis and
ileitis, which required management in an intensive care unit and treatment with large spectrum antibiotherapy (piperacillin-tazobactam and amikacin).
She has had a few colonoscopies demonstrating moderately active
ileitis and colitis attributed to her Crohn's disease.
