a method of investigation, care and advice used in SOCIAL WORK and some counselling situations. It involves looking at current personal problems within the context of the client's personal history Crucial to this is the keeping of a record of the interactions between the social worker and the client by the social worker, in order to illuminate the complex of causes and effects involved in the client's current problems.
