Topeka

a city in the USA, capital of Kansas. Situated on the Kansas River, a tributary of the Missouri. Population, 125,000 (1970; including suburbs, 155,000). Topeka, a railroad junction, is the commercial center of an agricultural region. Industries include food processing, mainly of meat and dairy products, flour milling, and the manufacture of rubber products. A university is located in Topeka.
