Mweru
(Moero), a lake in Africa, on the border of Zaire and Zambia. Located at an elevation of 917 m. Area, 5,100 sq km; depths 9-15 m. The Luapula River flows into Lake Mweru, and the Luvua River (a tributary of the Congo) flows out of it. It is navigable. The main landings are Kilwa and Pweto, both in Zai’re. The lake was discovered by D. Livingstone in 1867.
