Metis
(mee -tiss) A small irregularly shaped satellite of Jupiter, discovered in 1980 from photographs taken by Voyager 2 in 1979. The innermost known satellite of Jupiter, having an orbital radius of 79,510 miles (127,960 kilometers) and dimensions of 37 ×ばつ 21 miles (60 ×ばつ 34 kilometers. Also known as Jupiter XVI.
