Kalarash

a city (since 1940), the administrative center ofKalarash Raion, Moldavian SSR. Kalarash has a railroad sta-tion on the Kishinev-Ungeny line 50 km from Kishinev. Popula-tion, 13, 900 (1970). A wine and cognac combine, a canningfactory, a creamery, and a clothing industry are there, as is ateachers school.
