Donskoi

a city (until 1939, a settlement) in Tula Oblast, RSFSR. Situated in the Moscow Coal Basin in the upper reaches of the Don River. Railroad station (Bobrik-Donskoi) on the Tula-Riazhsk line. Population, 33,000 (1970). There is coal mining in the vicinity of the city. Donskoi has plants producing mining equipment and large-panel construction materials, among others, as well as a woodworking enterprise. There are furniture, shoe, stocking, and leather-goods factories. The city has a technicum of mechanized computing, a medical school, and a museum of local lore.


Donskoi

an urban-type settlement in Rostov Oblast, RSFSR, 20 km east of the Novocherkassk railroad station. Population, 10,000 (1970). The Novocherkassk Regional Electric Power Plant is located in Donskoi.
