VandalHandle colour settings

VandalHandle is a web-based Wikipedia counter-vandalism tool. It is a fork of AntiVandal created by Ingenuity, and is maintained by CocaPopsRather.

Unlike the original AntiVandal script, VandalHandle does not require the rollback permission; any logged-in user can use it. The tool loads recent edits in real time, prioritising those most likely to be vandalism using ORES integration, and allows for quick reversion and user warnings.

VandalHandle has been updated to improve accuracy when reverting edits by better preventing edit conflicts by verifying that the correct revision is being reverted and more reliably detects when another editor has already made a reversion. The user interface has also been redesigned for easier readability, and a more modern design.

Requirements

[edit ]

No special permissions are required. Any logged-in user can install and use VandalHandle.

Summary of changes from AntiVandal

[edit ]
VandalHandles modal viewer

VandalHandle introduces several key differences and changes compared to the original AntiVandal script:

  • No rollback permission required – Any logged-in user can use VandalHandle to revert edits, even without the rollback right.
  • Custom rollback system – Adds an option in the settings to perform reverts using a client-sided rollback (not using MediaWiki's rollback) both options allow the user to have custom edit summaries. Rollback is only used for blatant vandalism, reverts for things such as unsourced content or anything else will use client-sided rollback.
  • More descriptive edit summaries – Reverts and rollbacks now include clearer and more detailed summaries that include the reason for revert rather than leaving it default.
  • UI Revamp – The UI has been revamped for better readability, larger font and size overall. There is an option to change the colour settings to your liking.
  • Changed exclusion system – You now disable pages you do not wish to see in the queue, e.g talk pages.
  • Modal viewer – When enabled, this optional feature will open links (page histories, diffs, talk pages, etc.) in a modal window within VandalHandle itself, the point of this feature is to save time, and limit having unnecessary tabs open.
  • Undo last action – This is used in a scenario when you accidentally revert an edit e.g for vandalism. This button will undo last your revert and warning.
