25 years of Wikipedia: How a single free encyclopedia can do the unthinkable
[edit ]
The biggest encyclopedia ever, with over 7 million articles and counting has turned a quarter century years old, and many search engines copy the info. An encyclopedia that takes over the world, an encyclopedia to make humans smarter, an encyclopedia that refuses to quit, an encyclopedia that translates into 300+ languages, an encyclopedia that will keep developing for eternity, an encyclopedia for all purposes, an encyclopedia that freshens everyone's mind, an encyclopedia that can be shared to anyone's friend of his / her and an encyclopedia that stays forever with you. 25 years of Wikipedia, the most powerful encyclopedia to make humans feel like a better person. Have a positively good birthday, I guess.
Although knowledge is human, but knowledge is for the best for expanding into a better person.
雖然知識係人,但係知識係為咗擴大成為一個更好嘅人而最好。

Happy Birthday, Wikipedia! 25 years have just passed... let's go for another 25 years!
Happy somewhat-belated Birthday, Wikipedia!!!
[edit ]
I've been reading and writing (mostly reading, though) on here since I was... what, elevn years old? God, life has changed so much since then. Wikipedia has pushed my interests in history, science, and politics so much farther than I ever imagined, and I'm honored to say that Wikipedia is the reason I'm stuying history professionally. From the bottom of my heart, thank you to all my fellow Wikipedians, as well as everyone working at the Wikimedia Foundation, for making this nerd even just a little bit smarter. i honestly got alot of answers to questions from this dear website
Thanks, Wikipedia, for 25 Years ;)
Happy 25 Years, Here's to another 25!

Wikipedia, as we know, is one of the most fundamental parts of the modern internet. Without Wikipedia, we would've never had the world's biggest open and true information database. The first 25 have been amazing, the next 25 will be even better. Transfem.emilia (talk) 12:59, 24 May 2026 (UTC) [reply ]

Happy Birthday Wikipedia!

Sometimes Wikipedia isn’t perfect, and I certainly know that, but even the talk pages and the discussions users have had about topics can be very useful. Here’s to another 25 years of trying to catalog the world! Highresheadphones (talk) 01:33, 29 May 2026 (UTC) [reply ]
Happy Birthday, with Gratitude 💙

I also turned 25 this year. I've never edited or written on Wikipedia, but I grew up alongside it and can't imagine a world without it. From the time I got scolded for citing it in elementary school to now, it's always been there as long as I had an internet connection. Thank you to the people who make this site happen, for providing 30 second answers to simple searches and long hours falling down hyperlink rabbit holes. It's not perfect and never will be, but it's always getting closer and I think that's a beautifully human endeavor. We may be the same age now, but I hope Wikipedia's mission someday outlives me. To another 25 years, and many more! 🥂🎉 ~2026-32148-50 (talk) 20:13, 30 May 2026 (UTC) [reply ]
Happy birthday, with all of my existence

Now, I may be literal youth to this old-and-gold website, but even I, someone who's only on summer break for a few months before returning to the campus, even I'd know how important this place is. While I'd not use Wikipedia as an actual source on anything official, reason being that Wikipedia's still not a trusted source, I still trust Wikipedia like I would an actual peer-reviewed article, like Encyclopædia Britannica. I've always had disregard towards the teachers saying to not trust Wikipedia, especially when this place has bureaucracy leveling the German government, and what seems like an editor on every article, waiting for any single vandal to strike, only to erase their mark from the face of the article within minutes, if not seconds. I trust this place a while bunch. Maybe not the best idea on me, but I also glaze Wikipedia religiously, and I'd say it's justified. To say that Wikipedia is important is, in my opinion, an understatement.
Wikipedia's really what I consider to be one of the main pillars of the internet, as it does a very important function: taking al of the world's information, and making it easily accessible, for free. This place is, as I stated before, the human atlas, available on the Internet. While the Internet may not be free, it is in many, many places, and by having such a spread and influence on said internet, it's made knowledge majorly more accessible among those that have access to it. 300+ languages, millions of articles, and (an exact number for fancy points) 1,352,760,729 edits just on English Wikipedia, all of it was worth it to make information accessible. I created an account to start myself off on this place, and I'm sorry that I haven't done anything for this site, nor have I even found out about this place until an hour ago.
While this place may not be perfect, and will always be missing information, containing misinformation, and will always have some sort of controversy in it, as it is as humans are, and humans are imperfect, and I believe this place to be the closest to the collective human atlas. May no one, no corporation, no government, no single person, or no body try to fight or take down Wikipedia. A takedown of this place may as well be a takedown against the collective human intelligence. I encourage people to donate, even if it's a little bit, although that'd be hypocritical of me to say, as I haven't donated anything yet to the website. As The Joker said: "It's not about money, it's about sending a message." Thank you to all the editors and donors of this site. All contributions matter to this place.
Now, to end this giant letter that I've put more effort into so far than into the essays of my tests (at the last letter of "tests" it's 2,540 characters in total), I just wanna say that i read this place way more often than someone should. What I do with my free time is...go down random rabbit holes on Wikipedia. Even during classes I'll pull this type of buffoonery, because it's a good cure to boredom to an utter nerd (like me). Thank you for even this simple joy. I have so far 3 Wikipedia tabs open on here, minus the one I'm on right now. If I made any mistakes on here, it's not like humans (or Wikipedia, run by humans, minus certain bots) don't make mistakes. I'm not a robot, am I? That's really all I gotta say for this place. P.S. I'll always trust this place over AI. Good on the AI policies. Stand strong, Wikipedia. What would we be without it? Thank you all for working on this. Thank you Wikipedia.
TO ANOTHER AWESOME 25 YEARS ON THIS PLATFORM!!!!! GalliumThe69th (talk) 04:01, 3 June 2026 (UTC) [reply ]
