Numbers and PARENTCAT
[edit ]Hey, I noticed that you added Category:Numbers to several of the articles about numbers. The category has a lot of subcategories. One of them is Category:Integers, which will include all of the whole numbers that have articles. WP:PARENTCAT says that Pages (and subcategories) should not usually be placed in both a given category and any of its subcategories or parent categories.
Please stop adding the Number category to the articles, thanks. lethargilistic (talk) 22:28, 25 May 2026 (UTC) [reply ]
- Sorry. Should I go back and revert them, or is there an easier way? Wikipedian12512 (Talking is fine | contribs) 03:29, 26 May 2026 (UTC) [reply ]
- Are the prime numbers okay? Wikipedian12512 (Talking is fine | contribs) 03:32, 26 May 2026 (UTC) [reply ]
- You should revert them. A faster way might be to make a bot request, but that seems like overkill. I can do some.
- According to Category talk:Prime numbers, that category was intended for concepts related to primality, not for individual prime number articles. So those should be reverted, too, for now. But I do agree that having some kind of category for the prime numbers themselves is a good idea. Maybe a subcategory of the current category. lethargilistic (talk) 05:22, 27 May 2026 (UTC) [reply ]
- Of course, primes are also a subset of integers, but any new category should probably be non-diffusing, meaning that we don't remove them from Category:Integers. Certes (talk) 09:26, 27 May 2026 (UTC) [reply ]

Sock tagging
[edit ]Hey Wikipedian12512! I appreciate your efforts to help with some of the bureaucracy we have at SPI by tagging socks (e.g. here or here); however, I'd like to ask that you please refrain from doing so. Tagging socks is usually a task for the SPI clerks and checkusers because of the many edge cases involved. Sometimes, for instance, we will opt not to tag a sock, such as for the example linked above; Timelash is a well-known LTA and tagging their page goes against the spirit of WP:DENY. There's also not as much investigative value in doing so either, because the account was effectively vandalism-only and had already been handled by a CU & a steward. Please let me know if you have any questions, and happy editing! Best, Staraction (talk · contribs) 00:37, 31 May 2026 (UTC) (please ping on reply)[reply ]

re. Coldwell
[edit ]The block discussion at User talk:Doug Coldwell happened almost four years ago. Not to mention that user was later banned from enwiki. XtraJovial (talk • contribs) 04:36, 6 June 2026 (UTC) [reply ]
Comments on blocked editors' talk pages
[edit ]Hi there. I've told you a few times that your comments on various blocked editors' talk pages have been unhelpful. Other editors have also given you similar feedback. I warned you on May 29 to stop making posts that could be construed as WP:GRAVEDANCING. You did not heed that warning, and posted this extremely inappropriate comment: [1], which was rightly reverted. I see that immediately above this post, you have yet another editor telling you that your talk page comments are unhelpful. Please cease making any comments whatsoever on user conduct issues, whether it's on user talk pages, ANI, or anywhere else. This is your very final warning. In solidarity, asilvering (talk) 05:32, 6 June 2026 (UTC) [reply ]
- Thanks you for telling me.
- I will try to be more careful in the future, but I’d ask a few things first:
- Is there an easy way to stop me from editing the talk pages of blocked users? I read things sequentially, so I might not see that a user is blocked.
- How broadly construed is "user conduct issues?"
- Does the "cease making comments" apply to any conduct issue?
- A bit unrelated, but how do you give those clickable things that show what an editor did?
- In solidarity Wikipedian12512 (Talking is fine | contribs) 23:17, 6 June 2026 (UTC) [reply ]
- Follow up to 1: Will that make it impossible to, say, send messages with Twinkle if I’m nominating an article for deletion? In solidarity Wikipedian12512 (Talking is fine | contribs) 23:18, 6 June 2026 (UTC) [reply ]
- You can resolve this issue yourself by not commenting unnecessarily on user talk pages.
- If you have to ask if it counts, it counts.
- Please.
- Sorry, I have no idea what you mean by this, so I can't help you with this one. Can you rephrase?
- Nominating articles for deletion is fine. That's not a conduct issue. In solidarity, asilvering (talk) 03:12, 7 June 2026 (UTC) [reply ]
- For 4: those clickable links that goes to the version history. I don’t really understand anything about them, so I can’t explain further.
- Some of your clarifications make little sense practically, but you’re an experienced editor, so I trust your judgement. In solidarity Wikipedian12512 (Talking is fine | contribs) 04:24, 7 June 2026 (UTC) [reply ]
- Ah, I've just copied those links out of the edit history of the page. So to get a link to the comment you just made, I would go here and then get the URL at the "prev" link for that comment, which is [2]. Is that what you meant? In solidarity, asilvering (talk) 04:33, 7 June 2026 (UTC) [reply ]
- Yes. Thanks! In solidarity Wikipedian12512 (Talking is fine | contribs) 04:35, 7 June 2026 (UTC) [reply ]

- I don't think similar comments would be helpful on any wiki. In solidarity, asilvering (talk) 04:49, 7 June 2026 (UTC) [reply ]

CS1 error on Massachusetts
[edit ]Hello, I'm Qwerfjkl (bot). I have automatically detected that this edit performed by you, on the page Massachusetts, may have introduced referencing errors. They are as follows:
- A generic name error. References show this error when author or editor name parameters use place-holder names. Please edit the article to include the source's actual author or editor name. (Fix | Ask for help)
Please check this page and fix the errors highlighted. If you think this is a false positive, you can report it to my operator. Thanks, Qwerfjkl (bot) (talk) 21:17, 7 June 2026 (UTC) [reply ]
Contests
[edit ]Hi. OKA is mostly interested in making a big impact on English wikipedia (regions-world in scope) and is mainly interested in science. They typically put up 2000ドル for prizes for it and only do that given my successful track record in running contests. I don't think they would fund anything on Igbo wiki and if they did support a Nigeria contest on here I doubt it would be more than a few hundred for prizes. ♦ Dr. Blofeld 06:51, 9 June 2026 (UTC) [reply ]
- I wasn’t really thinking about prizes (although they would be nice, I guess). I was wondering how one would set it all up, whether there were any requirements for running it, etc. Thanks though! In solidarity Wikipedian12512 (Talking is fine | contribs) 19:33, 9 June 2026 (UTC) [reply ]
