Alp Arslan's raids into Anatolia
[edit ]Your article looks good overall. However, it would be better if you changed the title from "Alp Arslan" to "Seljuks". Although these campaigns or raids were generally carried out under Alp Arslan's orders, Alp Arslan did not have a significant direct involvement in all the conflicts. For example, it would be like referring to the African and Italian campaigns of the great commander Belisarius as the campaigns of Iustinian. I hope I have made myself clear. - There are also some missing information and errors in certain places. During the siege of Urfa, Alp Arslan collected tribute from the city and lifted the siege. During the siege of Aleppo, the city surrendered. There is also little information about Afshin's raids in Anatolia. Since I created the first entry on the Turkish Wikipedia about Afshin Bey's raids into Anatolia, I have some knowledge, good or bad, on the subject. In general, these situations can affect the objectivity and adequacy of the article. Kartal1071 (talk) 21:03, 2 April 2026 (UTC) [reply ]
- For the sieges of Urfa/Edessa and Aleppo, I am using information from page 246 of the book "Streams of Gold, Rivers of Blood" by Anthony Kaldellis. If you have any sources which contradict this, then please send them and I will add them. Neoptolemos7 (talk) 21:20, 2 April 2026 (UTC) [reply ]

- Thank you very much. Me and a friend put a lot of effort into making it. As for the name, it's fitting, since Sultan Alp Arslan did direct the Seljuk forces under Gumush, Salar and Afshin from Khlat, while he also participated by leading raids into Byzantine Mesopotamia. He may not have had direct control over all Turkoman armies, but he did lead the campaigns. Changing it to "Seljuk raids" would extend the page to that of not just Alp Arslan, but to other Seljuk Sultans as well, which would make the page appear much more bloated.
