Finally, you've come upon me, the Nutella lover. I joined Wiktionary on the 15th of April 2025 and for a long time, I only edited Wiktionary, but currently, I am most active on Wikipedia, Wikidata and Wikimedia Commons. I don't only edit the English-language Wikipedia and Wiktionary, but also the Polish and Swedish-language. My reason for editing Wiktionary was that I found it very relaxing and gave me a feeling of contribution. I promoted to Wikipedia because working on Wikipedia was more intellectually challenging and contains more vigorous discussion.

The beauty of Wikipedia, in my opinion, is that it is not easy to learn everything to an adequate level. So many policies and guidelines. What is even the difference? When should you use speedy deletion, proposed deletion⁣ and “X for discussion”? What is Wikipedia and what is it not? How can you know if consensus has been reached? It takes some time to become an expert at editing Wikipedia, but once it's done and the intimidation is gone, editing becomes very efficient. One can call it Wikipedia's „infrastructure", becuase it makes everything function properly.

But there's more to Wikipedia working so well. It is crucial for Wikipedians to assume good faith. That's exactly why Wikipedia has flaws. When everybody can edit it, there are going to be some trolls and vandals, but that's not the only thing I have in mind saying that not everybody acts justly. Wikipedia's biggest problem isn't vandalism, but rather neutral point of view or lack thereof. There is a noticeable bias in the content of Wikipedia. Discussions challenging it go nowhere, because this bias is systemic. No matter, whether you are a on the left, on the right or maybe a a centrist: always ensure N.P.O.V. is followed when writing. Unfortunately, most do not.
