I've made a few changes...

I saw this listed at the bottom of Denmark's article but nobody else's. It was originally listed as Scandinavia, so I changed that to the Nordic Countries (which, based on the countries it had, is what's accurate) and thus moved the template. I reorganized it a bit, adding the depedencies and such on a second line (though I don't know if it's appropriate to have these in a box for countries since they're not independent or anything -- especially Svalbard and Jan Mayen), and I also added Åland. Finally, I went to all the articles of the places listed in this template and added it to the bottom of those articles. Dan1113 04:20, 27 April 2006 (UTC) [reply ]

Good call, Dan! One thought on all these templates at the bottom of certain geography articles, though: If you take a glance at, say, the article on Iceland or Greenland and scroll down to the bottom of the page, one might ask oneself if there is an upper limit to the number of contextual template boxes. For instance this one is identical in scope with the Nordic Council template, with the minute exception that the residents of Svalbard have no separate representation in the Council. Not that this is a major issue, though, just some food for thoughtfulness... =J BigAdamsky |TALK |EDITS | 14:06, 27 April 2006 (UTC) [reply ]

Svalbard and Jan Mayen

[edit ]

Svalbard and Jan Mayen grouped togeather may exist as a ccTLD, but this fact alone does not mean that they constitute a "country". (!) I removed the subtemplate "SJM" from this template since it simply does not belong here. Having both this template and Template:Nordic Council on the same pages and containing the same information seems to be a little overkill. -- Domino theory 23:21, 11 June 2006 (UTC) [reply ]

I added Svalbard on the basis that it's a part of Norway but subject to an international treaty and administered distinctly from the rest of the country; similar to Aland. Neither Aland or Svalbard are considered "countries", though they are part of the Nordic region. Rob984 (talk) 21:50, 6 August 2018 (UTC) [reply ]
