Template:Contentious topics/aware
This template allows a user to signal their awareness of the contentious topics system, so that it is not necessary to warn them using {{alert }}. This possibility was enacted by motion of the Arbitration Committee in July 2019.
Usage
Towards the top of your own talk page, add:
{{Contentious topics/aware|topic_code}}
where topic_code identifies the contentious topic(s) for which you assert awareness, and thus waive the need for notice.
You can specify multiple topics; select them from the full list of topic codes below.
For example:

- post-1992 politics of the United States and closely related people
- the Balkans or Eastern Europe
- gender-related disputes or controversies or people associated with them
Then, if another editor tries to alert you about one of these topics being a contentious topic, they will see:
It is not necessary to notify this user about the following topics being contentious topics:The user has indicated that they are already aware using the template {{Contentious topics/aware}} on their talk page.
within the output of Special:AbuseFilter/602, Mediawiki:Abusefilter-warning-CT.

Alerting
