Sassy Robot

[edit source ]

I thought this referred to V.I.C.I from Small Wonder rather than Metal Mickey.--Nonpareility 15:26, 19 September 2006 (UTC) [reply ]

I personally thought it was an early, early reference to Futurama 75.119.225.139 (talk) 10:43, 15 March 2011 (UTC) [reply ]

Butters

[edit source ]

did the introduction part of ending segment from this episode influence "butters' very own episode" on south park? unless they're both a reference to something else —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.45.193.123 (talk) 00:48, 14 November 2007 (UTC) [reply ]

Steve Bennett

[edit source ]

At the beginning of this episode, Bart sees Homer with a plunger on his head and decides to change his name to Steve Bennett when he grows up. Does this reference a particular Steve Bennett? — NES Boy (talk) 03:09, 6 December 2007 (UTC) [reply ]

I think it was just a random name that was made up by the writers. It's impossible to create a completly original name unless you use irrational names like Xenu or Jesus (lol). --Simpsons fan 66 05:32, 29 March 2008 (UTC) [reply ]

Maggie

[edit source ]

I just finished watching this episode on DVD and I didn't see Maggie anywhere. Can somebody point out where she appeared? Otherwise it's pretty notable. TJ Spyke 11:53, 28 January 2008 (UTC) [reply ]

She hasn't appeared in several of the newer episodes, so it's not that notable. Either way, it would need a source. -- Scorpion 0422 15:49, 28 January 2008 (UTC) [reply ]

GA review

[edit source ]

This review is transcluded from Talk:The Front (The Simpsons)/GA1. The edit link for this section can be used to add comments to the review. (削除) *Correctly guessing that Meyers didn't take them seriously because they were kids -> "did not"; "they were children" (削除ここまで)

  • (削除) Krusty the Clown and Brooke Shields presented the award for Outstanding Writer -> present tense (削除ここまで)
  • (削除) Use mdashes not ndashes for introduce the award – the first time he has ever seen the show – Grampa is appalled & a brief segment – complete with its own theme song – entitled... (削除ここまで)
  • (削除) "that delightful Billy Crystal." -> period after quotation marks, as the quote isn't a complete sentence (削除ここまで)
  • (削除) Adam Lapidus or Adam I. Lapidus? Pick one and go for it. (削除ここまで)
  • (削除) Re-submit or resubmit? As above, for consistency's sake. (削除ここまで)
  • (削除) Lapidus wrote a spec script, and called Dave Davis to see what he thought of it -> no comma necessary (削除ここまで)
  • (削除) In the scene at the Itchy & Scratchy writers lounge (pictured) -> "Itchy & Scratchy" in italics (削除ここまで)
  • (削除) Lisa is reading a book titled "How to get rich writing cartoons" -> capitalise book title (削除ここまで)
  • (削除) a member of the Simpsons staff -> "The Simpsons" (削除ここまで)
  • (削除) "Animation Wing" at Itchy & Scratchy studios -> show title in italics (削除ここまで)
  • (削除) In the scene, Itchy and Scratchy are using a typewriter, Scratchy pulls the paper out and throws it into the air, forming an Itchy & Scratchy Productions logo -> Doesn't make sense. Maybe needs an "and" somewhere in the middle? (削除ここまで)
  • (削除) "did you see this episode?" -> "Did" (削除ここまで)
  • (削除) The "Clip not done yet" screen for the Ren & Stimpy cartoon was a counter-attack -> What screen? Maybe explain because there doesn't seem to be enough info about the context to understand. (削除ここまで)
  • (削除) The Simpsons, by stating: "The show succeeded despite the writing" -> no colon necessary (削除ここまで)
  • Bit of a shame there's only one review in the Reception. It's kinda stupid asking, but you're absolutely, positively sure there is no other single piece of info out there that we can use? I noticed some of the other season 4 articles have Nielsen ratings - do you have access to any of those figures?

(削除) *Do we really need the "(click for greater detail)" in the image caption? It's kind of a given, IMO. (削除ここまで)

I think that's about it. Most of the issues are (削除) somewhat (削除ここまで) extremely nitpicky and pedantic, so they shouldn't be too hard to fix. I'm putting the article on hold for 7 days, and hopefully then it'll be able to pass for GA :) Good luck! —97198 talk 12:58, 1 June 2008 (UTC) [reply ]

Looks pretty nice after some fix-ups. Only a couple more things to point out:

(削除) :*nineteenth episode of The Simpsons ' fourth season - shouldn't be a space before apostrophe (削除ここまで)

  • (削除) Bart and Lisa decide to write an Itchy & Scratchy - shouldn't they be writing an episode, rather? (Can't believe I didn't catch that before.) (削除ここまで)
  • (削除) "Class of 1974" High School reunion - don't think high school should be capitalised (削除ここまで)
  • (削除) A scene from the writer's lounge at the Itchy & Scratchy studios - show title should be in italics (削除ここまで)
  • (削除) Lapidus wrote a spec script and called Dave Davis to see what he thought of it. Davis liked the idea, and called James L. Brooks - "called" is used twice in succession. Maybe just say "pased it on to" for one of them. (削除ここまで)
  • (削除) Another such joke is the door to the "Animation Wing" at Itchy & Scratchy studios - show title in italics (削除ここまで)
  • (削除) studios, which is a parody of the Disney animation building, which has an identical door - should be reword so as to avoid "which ... which ..." (削除ここまで)
  • (削除) Combine same references using ref names, eg. 2 & 11, 5 & 13. (Ref #5 also has a stray semicolon after names.) (削除ここまで)
  • (削除) External links lists TV.com page under wrong title (削除ここまで)

Good stuff, otherwise - we're almost there! —97198 talk 14:15, 2 June 2008 (UTC) [reply ]

Thank you for your review 97198. How can I edit this list to add strikeouts to completed tasks? P.S, I have exams for the next week so I might not be quick to fix the issues. --Simpsons fan 66 00:04, 2 June 2008 (UTC) [reply ]
You can edit the list at Talk:The Front (The Simpsons)/GA1 (it's transcluded above). —97198 talk 06:05, 2 June 2008 (UTC) [reply ]
All done! Sorry, but I couldn't find any nielsen ratings. I don't have access to the "Long Beach Press-Telegram", which is where most of the ratings come from. Any other issues? --Simpsons fan 66 08:02, 2 June 2008 (UTC) [reply ]
Further comments transcluded above. —97198 talk 14:16, 2 June 2008 (UTC) [reply ]
Lol, "Write an Itchy & Scratchy." Classic. Two exams down but I might need another day, lots of study tonight. That way I could get a GA for my birthday! --Simpsons fan 66 00:19, 4 June 2008 (UTC) [reply ]
Finished. Any other issues? --Simpsons fan 66 07:39, 4 June 2008 (UTC) [reply ]
Awesome. Only other thing I could find was The name of the school principal, Dondelinger, was based on the name of someone Sam Simon knew which would be worded better as "The school principal, Dondelinger, was named after someone Sam Simon knew." Thanks for taking care of business and happy birthday! I'm going to go ahead and pass the article :) —97198 talk 11:23, 4 June 2008 (UTC) [reply ]
I know it just passed, but the article still has several issues. The biggest of which is that the article has an extremely small lead which needs to be expanded in order to maintain GA status. You might also want to take a look at WP:MOSDASH and make sure the article has correct useage of dashes, as I see several spaced em dashes. Cheers, Juliancolton Tropical Cyclone 13:43, 4 June 2008 (UTC) [reply ]
I have corrected the spacing issue, but I'm not sure what I can do to expand the lead. Usually the lead contains the original airdate, a short plot summary, who wrote and directed the episode, and any significant details. Apart from the latter, this has been acheived. The problem is, unlike my previous Simpsons GAs, this episode has no exceptional production details. I could mention that this was the only episode that Lapidus ever wrote. Any ideas? --Simpsons fan 66 23:10, 5 June 2008 (UTC) [reply ]
Hmm. Maybe include some more plot info, two sentences or production, and two sentences on cultural reference? Just give a brief summary of each section, and it should make the lead more comprehensive. Juliancolton Tropical Cyclone 23:43, 5 June 2008 (UTC) [reply ]
Ok, I added some of the most significant production details, but I don't feel that there are any CR significant enough for the lead. --Simpsons fan 66 01:02, 6 June 2008 (UTC) [reply ]

This article has several problems. First, in the "Cultural References" section, there are almost all unreferenced paragraphs. Second, there's only one critical review and nothing else. Given that The Simpsons is such a popular show, there should be more. You have to look at the reviews of the fourth season. ~2026-32762-75 (talk) 19:10, 1 June 2026 (UTC) [reply ]
