Suggestions about NPOV language

It's awfully easy to be more emphatic in language, and I agree that is more vivid in general prose. Unfortunately, that doesn't necessarily help encyclopedic, NPOV writing. For example, take houses "destroyed,burnt and plundered". Doesn't "destroyed" cover things adequately? Indeed, it's hard to plunder something after you've burned it.

how about some destroyed by various means, some specifically burnt, and some plundered?

or plundered first, then burnt, then bulldozed

anyway the spelling and punctuation needs fixed, I can take care of that
