Project page to request technical page moves
If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request a technical move below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
If you are here because you want an admin to approve of your new article or your proposed page move, you are in the wrong place.
- If this is your first article and you want your draft article moved to the mainspace, please use the submission wizard to submit your draft or user sandbox page for review at Articles for creation instead of listing it here.
- Because you are autoconfirmed, you can move most pages yourself. Do not request technical assistance on this page if you can do it yourself.
- If you need help determining whether it's okay to move the page to a different title, then please follow the instructions at the top of Wikipedia:Requested moves.
- Please make sure you really need technical assistance before making a request here. In particular, if the target page is a redirect back to the source page that has only one revision, you can usually move the page normally.
- To list a technical request: edit the Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
- To request a reversion of a recent undiscussed move: Review the guidelines at WP:RMUM of whether a reversion of an undiscussed move qualifies as uncontroversial and if so, edit the Requests to revert undiscussed moves subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page. Note that in some cases, clerks, such as administrators or page movers may determine that your request for a reversion does not pass the criteria and may move the request to the contested section or open a formal requested move discussion for potentially controversial moves on your behalf.
{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
- If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page. A bot will automatically remove contested requests after 72 hours of inactivity.
Technical requests
Edit this section if you want to move a request between sections.
Uncontroversial technical requests
Most requests should be placed in this section.
Requests to revert undiscussed moves
If your request involves a technical request for reverting a recent undiscussed move, place it here.
- Haji Beşir Agha Mosque (currently a redirect to Hacı Beşir Ağa Mosque) → Hacı Beşir Ağa Mosque (move · discuss) – Undiscussed move with no clear explanation and new title is no clear improvement. New name mixes at least two different transliteration styles at the same time and does not occur in any English sources at all as far as I can tell, whereas the previous title can be found in some English sources either in full (e.g. [1], [2]) or its namesake can be found with the same spelling (e.g. [3], [4]). Either way, needs discussion before a move. R Prazeres (talk) 22:04, 26 July 2026 (UTC) reply
Contested technical requests
Do not insert new requests in this section. Only move requests here if they have been contested.
- Talk:Tasos Chatzigiovanis (currently a redirect to Talk:Anastasios Chatzigiovanis) → Talk:Anastasios Chatzigiovanis (move · discuss) – match recent article move. C 679 05:36, 24 July 2026 (UTC) reply
- @Cloudz679 There are four moves in the article (not talk) history between Tasos and Anastasios. If this specific talk page is to be believed, none of them have been discussed. Are we sure we want to move the talk and not the article? In solidarity, Iseult Δx talk to me 05:54, 24 July 2026 (UTC) reply
- ʻOfa Likiliki → 'Ofa Likiliki 'Ofa Likiliki (currently a redirect back to ʻOfa Likiliki) (move · discuss) – Enwiki uses straight quotes, not curly ones. Electricmemory (talk) In solidarity 03:32, 24 July 2026 (UTC) reply
- Here I do not believe it is an apostrophe, but I forgot whether there is a guideline that details this usage of curly quotes. 1isall (talk | contribs) 04:36, 24 July 2026 (UTC) reply
- It may look like a curly quote unless you have very good glasses, but I think it is an ʻOkina, also known as a Modifier letter turned comma. I left a message for User:Kwamikagami who may know what an Okina is. No opinion myself on the move. EdJohnston (talk) 16:03, 24 July 2026 (UTC) reply
- Oh yeah. That's what I was thinking of. 1isall (talk | contribs) 00:04, 25 July 2026 (UTC) reply

- Not a curly quote, but fakauʻa , a letter of the Tongan alphabet. Our 'no curly quotes' rule only applies to formatting punctuation. MOS:APOSTROPHE spells this out. — kwami (talk) 06:05, 25 July 2026 (UTC) reply

- Rajasthani peoples → Rajasthanis Rajasthanis (currently a redirect back to Rajasthani peoples) (move · discuss) – Recent (undiscussed) move from Rajasthani people, the needless people/peoples distinction can be done away with inline with other Indian ethno-linguistic groups Biharis (also a "peoples" grouping), Punjabis, Tamils etc. Gotitbro (talk) 10:21, 23 July 2026 (UTC) reply
- @Gotitbro The recent move (January) was from 'people' to 'peoples'. Opinions differ, why not open a full move discussion? EdJohnston (talk) 15:42, 24 July 2026 (UTC) reply
- @EdJohnston: Just seeing how similar ethnolinguistic groups are titled in India, I think a ready case is made here to not need an extensive RM. Gotitbro (talk) 20:57, 24 July 2026 (UTC) reply

- Gulella bicolor → Huttonella (move · discuss) – Gulella bicolor is considered a synonym of Huttonella bicolor by WoRMS/MolluscaBase. Huttonella is considered a monospecific genus (see WoRMS, Catalogue of Life, ITIS, with H. bicolor as its only species, so this article should be moved to the genus name per WP:MONOTYPICFAUNA. - Which article do you mean when you say
the other article
- Huttonella ? I'm a bit confused. Ethmostigmus 🌿 (talk | contribs) 11:28, 23 July 2026 (UTC) reply- The first link to WoRMS didn't work because it's a marine-only db, I found this MolluscaBase link though. Huttonella blocks the move, so in this case a merge might be more appropriate than a simple move. It is confusing that we are documenting both as separate when they share the same image even, so it might be a good idea to include some description of their relationship. - The "other article" (Huttonella) doesn't need moving, it needs deleting. Lavalizard101 (talk) WP:SOLIDARITY 17:54, 24 July 2026 (UTC) reply

- @Ethmostigmus A formal merge request may be a good idea, especially if deletion may be a favored option instead, then we can clear the way for the Gulella article (or whatever gets decided) ASUKITE 02:48, 25 July 2026 (UTC) reply
- South African National Championship (currently a redirect to South African Drivers Championship) → South African National Drivers Championship South African National Drivers Championship (currently a redirect instead to South African Drivers Championship) (move · discuss) – The suggested name is more appropriate for the article Kawasaki ninja 400 (talk) 02:33, 26 July 2026 (UTC) reply
- you changed the article content to support the new title, so this is not an uncontroversial technical request. Please seek consensus via Requested Move by Clicking the discuss button above. In solidarity, Destinyokhiria (talk / cont ) 03:01, 26 July 2026 (UTC) reply
