== Lede heavily focused on early 2025 media frenzy ==
The lede contains factual information regarding company claims, market shock, and media referring to it as a "Sputnik moment." However, it reads as a snapshot of the panic/frenzy in early 2025 following the release of DeepSeek-R1. 
It is heavily reliant on sensational articles from the time and company claims, including treating ''"the company also trained its models during ongoing trade restrictions on AI chip exports to China, using weaker AI chips intended for export and employing fewer units overall"'' as undisputed fact despite there being questions/controversy regarding that. 
Instead of reading like a summary of the DeepSeek company, it focuses on the most optimistic claims of the R1 model, its costs, the chips used, etc. and the most doomsday-ish implications for NVIDIA and western AI models that were floating around in early 2025. While the reactions to R1's release its implications are very important to include, I think it is given undue weight and does not give an accurate overview of the company/the current situation after the media frenzy wore off. == Copy edit ==
As a member of the [[Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors|Guild of Copy Editors]], I have found this article interesting and I started copy editing it, seeing a B class and expecting a decent quality. However, this article does not just need copy editing. It is very long yet is filled with [[Wikipedia:Synth|synthesis]] and [[Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not|promotional content]]. There are also many places without sources, and some are even completely [[Wikipedia:Unreliable sources|unreliable]]. It is also filled with many errors in the [[Wikipedia:Manual of Style|MoS]]. I only obligated to fix the promotional content and MoS issues, as well as a ton of inconsistent typos (because I am a copy editor) Even if I wanted to (I do), it is very difficult for me alone to fix the sourcing since there are 100+ of them. I hope someone can assist me in polishing this article. Other than these issues however, it seems like the article covers DeepSeek as a whole pretty adequately, and it has the potential to reach B class, but the work will be very tedious.
