Henry Shi is a technology entrepreneur based in San Francisco, California.[1] He co-founded Super.com (formerly Snapcommerce)[2] in April 2016, and went on to serve as COO/CTO.[3] Shi previously founded uMentioned, a local social discovery network.[4] [5]

Early life and education

Shi graduated from the University of Waterloo.[6] [7] [8] Shi was also admitted to the Stanford Graduate School of Business.[9] In 2016, He joined Georgia Tech's OMSCS and now serves on the advisory board of the College of Computing.[10] Shi was also given the Rising Stars award by Georgia Tech in May 2023.[11]

Career

Shi started his career as a programmer analyst at Scotia Capital while he was doing his bachelors in 2011.[12] [13] In January 2012, during his co-op term in New York he joined Bloomberg as a Software Developer and built sabermetrics software in scouting and predictive analytics for the MLB.[14]

Shi interned at LendUp in the company's early days when they only had ten employees.[4] During his term at Google in 2014, He built and launched 'Music Insights' for YouTube.[15] Shi had been featured in TechCrunch, The Information, and Forbes.[16] [17] [1] In 2020, he was accepted into The Next 36 program.[18]

Super.com

Launched in 2016 as Snapcommerce by Hussein Fazal and Shi,[6] Super.com is a savings and earnings application with fintech, rewards and travel use cases.[2] [19] [20] [21] Fazal leads Super.com as CEO along with Shi as COO/CTO.[22] The company has grown to over 200 employees and 150ドルM in revenue annually. In 2024, Super.com was named America's 45th fastest growing companies by Financial Times.[23]

Major investors of the company include Steph Curry,[citation needed ] Harley Finkelstein, Inovia Capital, and Lion Capital.[24]

Henry Shi has been an Angel and Seed investor in various AI startups including Ollama, LlamaIndex, Fal.ai, Higgsfield AI, Fileread, Superblocks and Wield.[citation needed ][25]
