This draft appears to contain text generated by a large language model (such as ChatGPT). You cannot use LLMs to generate article content.

LLM-generated pages with certain obvious signs of being machine generated may be deleted without notice.

These tools are prone to specific issues that violate our policies:

  • hallucinations : they often invent false information and cite non-existent references.
  • unencyclopedic tone : they tend to be vague, promotional, or essay-like, rather than neutral and factual.
  • copyright issues : they may closely paraphrase existing text, leading to copyright violations.

Instead, only summarize in your own words a range of independent, reliable, published sources that discuss the subject.

This draft's references do not show that the subject meets Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion for organizations and companies. The draft requires multiple published secondary sources that:
  • provide significant coverage : discuss the subject in detail, excluding routine coverage like product launches, staff appointments, or financial reports and listings in databases or listicles;
  • are reliable : from reputable outlets with editorial oversight;
  • are independent : not connected to the subject, such as press releases, the subject's own website, or sponsored content.
Please add references that meet all three of these criteria. If none exist, the subject is not yet suitable for Wikipedia.

  • Comment: There's some traces of LLM usage though not enough to force a decline; what is enough is that even just from the titles of the sources the only one that possibly is an independent reliable source with sigcov is the Verge article. Better sourcing needed, at the least. Thank you for complying with our conflict of interest editing guidelines. Fermiboson (talk) 19:25, 5 December 2025 (UTC)
  • Comment: In accordance with the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use, I disclose that I have been paid by my employer for my contributions to this article. I have rewritten the text to be neutral and factual, citing only independent secondary sources. Colinjnash (talk) 19:08, 5 December 2025 (UTC)

AiFi is a technology company based in Burlingame, California. The business develops computer vision software for retailers, such as supermarkets, stadiums, and clothing chains to use cashierless stores.

As of September 2025, co-founder João Diogo Falcão is Chief Executive Officer.[1]

History

[edit ]

AiFi was founded in 2016 by Steve Gu and Ying Zheng. In February 2018, the company publicly debuted its platform, which focused on a checkout-free retail system designed to compete with Amazon Go.[2]

Series B Funding

[edit ]

In March 2022, AiFi secured 65ドル million in Series B funding. The investment was led by Verizon Ventures and included retail partners such as ALDI South Group and Żabka.[3]

Technology

[edit ]

AiFi's platform solely uses cameras to assign identity based on computer vision. Using pose estimation to track customers, the software assigns anonymous 3D keypoint skeletons (avatars) onto persons within the camera field of vision to monitor behavior without recording biometric identity.[4]

The architecture relies on multi-target tracking algorithms to maintain keypoint continuity when views are blocked,[5] and analyzes motion patterns to detect interactions between hands and objects.[6] The system matches the keypoint movements within defined zones to an avatar when an item is removed from a specific area.[7]

Intuit Dome

[edit ]

The company is the primary retail solution provider for the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, the home arena of the Los Angeles Clippers. As of 2025, the arena operates over 40 concession stands that use AiFi solutions.[8] [9]
