Bruty (Hungarian: Bart) is a municipality and village in the Nové Zámky District in the Nitra Region of south-west Slovakia.
Etymology
[edit ]Slovak/Slavic brť from Proto-Slavic bъrtь - a hive of forest bees.[4] Buruth 1223, Borth 1342, Barth 1773.[4]
History
[edit ]In historical records the village was first mentioned in 1223.
Geography
[edit ]The municipality lies at an altitude of 155 metres (509 ft)[3] and covers an area of 20.53 km2 (7.93 sq mi) (2025).[5]
