Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because it has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Also, your username gives the impression that the account represents a business, organisation, group, website, or role, which is against the username policy.

If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must follow all these steps:

  1. Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement; and
  2. Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked; and
  3. Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked; and
  4. Provide a new username.

To do this, insert the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. If you are having trouble, you may want to try using the unblock wizard .

Before requesting a new username, check if it is still available. If the search says "There is no global account for [username]", the username is free to use.

Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the edit. PhilKnight (talk) 07:15, 3 August 2026 (UTC) Reply

Request reason:

I understand why my account was blocked, and I take responsibility for it. I added a link to a business I'm affiliated with to a page on one occasion, which was a mistake on my part — I did not think through how this would look under Wikipedia's advertising and promotion guidelines before making that edit. I also understand that my previous username itself represented a business, which is against the username policy on its own, separate from the edit itself. Disclosure: I am affiliated with the business that was linked. I have no other paid-editing arrangement to disclose. I will not edit any page about, or add any link to, that business or any business I am affiliated with, going forward — I recognise this is a conflict of interest I should not have acted on. If unblocked, I intend to make general, neutral contributions unrelated to any business interest of mine — for example minor copyedits, adding or improving citations on existing articles, or contributing to topics I have a genuine personal interest in, with no promotional content of any kind. I would like my username changed to New_Username_Here, which does not represent a business, organisation or role. Gatwick Taxi Transfer (talk) 07:23, 3 August 2026 (UTC) Reply

The following request was written through the unblock wizard. Can you explain, in your own words, why your edits were promotional?

I added a link to a business I'm affiliated with to a page. I didn't think through how this would look under Wikipedia's advertising and promotion guidelines before making that edit — it wasn't a considered attempt to spam the site, but I understand now that it violates the

policy regardless of intent, and I shouldn't have done it. What is your relationship with the subjects you have been editing about?

I am affiliated with the business I linked to in my edit. I have no

other paid-editing relationship with any subject on Wikipedia. If you are unblocked, what topic areas will you edit in?

I'd like to make general, neutral contributions unrelated to any business I'm affiliated with — for example minor copyedits, fixing broken citations, or adding sourced information to articles on topics I have a genuine personal interest in. I will not create or edit any content about, or add any link to, my own business or any business

I'm connected to. Is there anything else that may be helpful to your unblock request?

I understand why the block was applied and accept it was justified. I'm requesting a new, non-business username as required by the username policy, and I confirm I will not repeat the promotional edit or use Wikipedia to link to or promote any business going

forward. Gatwick Taxi Transfer (talk) 07:31, 3 August 2026 (UTC) Reply
