Links to Japanese Wikipedia should be removed
[edit ]Someone has inserted many links to the Japanese Wikipedia articles for the actors. If someone speaks Japanese then they would already be on the Japanese Wiki page for the show to begin with. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2603:8000:7800:9F15:E166:2F73:9320:FB87 (talk) 18:02, 8 February 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
Episode 2
[edit ]I removed part of the description of the scene in episode 2 where Blackthorne tells to Toranaga about the secret Portuguese base in Macau. In this scene, Blackthorne does not explain any war between Japan and Korea, only that it was an uprising against Taikō years earlier. The fact that both Blackthorne and Mariko refer to "gun running (teppō no mitsuyu)" suggests that the uprising refers to an uprising within Japan. Given the historical facts, this would refer to Toyotomi Hidetsugu's alleged uprising against Taikō. In any case, explaining something that is not mentioned in the play is WP:ORIGINAL and should be removed.--SLIMHANNYA (talk) 06:35, 1 March 2024 (UTC) [reply ]
Linking to the historical characters
[edit ]Per WP:SURPRISE, I think that links should go where they're supposed to. Blackthorne should not be linked to Adams and Toranaga to Ieyasu in plot summaries. --SarekOfVulcan (talk) 19:21, 21 March 2024 (UTC) [reply ]
Captain-General
[edit ]@Areaseven: Not sure where you're seeing that the Captain-General made it to E2. The scene in E1 shows Blackthorne handing over his pistol to the Captain-General and then while Blackthorne is on deck, there's a bang with the suicide occurring off-screen. Vulture's recap does a bit of analysis on that scene. I also went & checked the credits for E2 and Ned Dennehy isn't in them. Sariel Xilo (talk) 16:19, 3 April 2024 (UTC) [reply ]
- Yeah, I was thinking of the wrong character. - Areaseven (talk) 16:39, 3 April 2024 (UTC) [reply ]
Episode 4 short enough?
[edit ]I trimmed the episode 4 summary. Short enough to remove the "too long" tag? - Special-T (talk) 15:30, 11 April 2024 (UTC) [reply ]
- MOS:TVPLOT says 200 words so yeah, short enough now Indagate (talk) 15:32, 11 April 2024 (UTC) [reply ]
Is Ishido his first name or last name?
[edit ]The character Ishido Kazunari is repeatedly referred to as "Ishido" yet for some reason, his name is written first before his surname. Shouldn't his name be written as Kazunari Ishido? HiGuys69420 (talk) 23:13, 11 May 2024 (UTC) [reply ]
- In Japanese, the given name comes after the surname. Softlavender (talk) 04:05, 3 July 2024 (UTC) [reply ]
- So Ishido is his last name then HiGuys69420 (talk) 16:48, 3 July 2024 (UTC) [reply ]
- You should always specify "given" vs. "family", when talking about names. "First," "last," and "surname" are not clear enough terms. SDSpivey (talk) 20:12, 6 August 2024 (UTC) [reply ]
- So Ishido is his family name right? HiGuys69420 (talk) 02:16, 7 August 2024 (UTC) [reply ]
Differences between Book and Show?
[edit ]Should we include a section detailing key differences between the book and show (as in plot wise not name wise)? HiGuys69420 (talk) 00:20, 3 July 2024 (UTC) [reply ]
- No, only if they are discussed in and citable from reliable independent sources. -- Softlavender (talk) 02:26, 3 July 2024 (UTC) [reply ]
- Agree that reliable sources are needed; these subsections might be useful examples if you want to develop something similar: Game of Thrones#Inspirations and derivations or One Piece (2023 TV series)#Changes from the manga. There are probably similar sections in other TV/film articles. However, MOS:TVAVOID advises caution with these types of sections and to avoid making a "simple list of differences". Completed?
[edit ]Is the show over, or will there be another season? SDSpivey (talk) 20:12, 6 August 2024 (UTC) [reply ]
- While initially billed as a limited series, two additional seasons are in development as of May '24. See the main article's development section for the relevant citations. Cheezknight (talk) 21:06, 6 August 2024 (UTC) [reply ]
