{{subst:requested move }}. Do not use {{requested move/dated }} directly. New York Merchandise Mart → 41 Madison Avenue – The property has several names, including 41 Madison Avenue, which should be used as the common name for this article. Recent sources using this name include: Real Estate Business Online, Empire State Development, New York & Tri-State Real Estate News, and New York YIMBY.
The company itself also uses "41 Madison Avenue" as the operative name for this property, as seen on its official website. Sophie35967 (talk) 13:11, 29 July 2026 (UTC) Reply
Mild Oppose Neutral (per reply and research presented below)per sources and advertising material. There is also a competing alternate name in the lead sentence, 1 Madison Square Plaza. Will watch the discussion. Randy Kryn (talk) 13:22, 31 July 2026 (UTC) Reply- Thanks Randy Kryn, for raising that. To clarify, I put together a review of current usage across independent, reliable, Wiki-appropriate sources for each of the three names in play here.
- "41 Madison Avenue" / "Forty One Madison" has the most current reliable-source usage. Commercial Observer has run a steady stream of leasing stories under this name:
- Investment Manager and Hedge Fund Take Space at 41 Madison Avenue (Aug. 2021)
- Welcome Homes Expands to 14K SF With Rudin at 41 Madison Avenue (Nov. 2022)
- Deborah Berke Takes 13K SF at 41 Madison Avenue (Dec. 2022)
- Kensington Vanguard Signs 13K-SF Lease at 41 Madison (Nov. 2023)
- Clarick Gueron Reisbaum Signs 13K-SF Lease at Rudin's 41 Madison Avenue (June 2024)
- Urban Atelier Group Lease at 41 Madison Avenue (Nov. 2024)
- BrightTower Signs 14K-SF Deal at Rudin's 41 Madison Avenue (March 2026)
- Polar Asset Management Partners Grows to 13K SF at Rudin's 41 Madison Avenue (May 2026)
- YIMBY New York and the New York Real Estate Journal use it too:
- Revealed: Public Space Renovations at 41 Madison Avenue, Flatiron District (New York YIMBY, March 2016)
- BrighTower to relocate headquarters to Rudin's 41 Madison Ave. (April 2026)
- As does the Citybiz publication:
- "New York Merchandise Mart" is the original 1974 name, tied to the tabletop trade show that ran under it for decades. There's real trade coverage, like this article This April Marks Final Edition of Forty One Madison Tabletop Show from Gifts & Decorative Accessories, and as you can see that article is about the trade show itself rebranding away from the Merchandise Mart name. Most other current appearances of this name are in directories and tertiary sources rather than active reliable-sources.
- "1 Madison Square Plaza," is a name that is not used across any independent reliable source. Every occurrence I found is a mirror restating this article's own lead sentence. See kids.kiddle.co and aroundus.com. If there is an independent source I am missing for "1 Madison Square Plaza", I'd genuinely be curious to review it.
- Given the above, I think the sourcing supports moving to 41 Madison Avenue (or Forty One Madison) more than it supports keeping the current title on prevalence grounds.
- I really do appreciate your involvement here and would be happy to keep discussing. Thanks, Sophie35967 (talk) 14:14, 3 August 2026 (UTC) Reply
