UK A-Level (High School finishing exam) standard information is avaiable from http://tutor2u.net/economics/content/topics/buseconomics/mes.htm I'm not sure whether including exerpts would be violation of the rules

Am I missing something. Seems like a pretty empty definition. The average cost approaches the marginal cost in the limit. This is pretty much a tautology. If there is something more to this then perhaps a concrete example would help. Otherwise maybe some information that combines this with supply and demand curves to do something useful like optimize profit.
