From NIH: "Note: In August, 2008, the nomenclature of the GA binding protein transcription factors was clarified. The gene on Hsa1q was named GABPB2 and the gene on Hsa15q was named GABPB1. [24 Sep 2008]"
So it sounds like people used to be unable to agree which one was #1 and which was #2. However, this has lead to GABPB2 being listed as a synonym in the list of names for GABPB1, leading to the two wikipedia pages essentially being squashed together. I will try to repair this. The current page is using the description for GABPB1, but it’s just a stub copying from public domain descriptions, so it might be easier to just leave this one as GABPB2, and create a GABPB1.
