Scope and naming
[edit ]This doesn't seem to focus on the Edison cell, but covers three different varieties. So shouldn't it be named for the cell chemistry instead of a particular implementation of that? - I Agree, but this article could also properly be called "Lalande-Chaperon cell" which is the name I've known this cell type before I found this article and how it is commonly referred to in Europe. Edison didn't change the chemistry Lalande and Chaperon established, just changed the technology so I wouldn't say it warrants the "Edison-Lalande" name at all. That makes sense just as someone said "Energizer's alkaline batteries are better than any of those produced before them, let's from now on call all alkaline zinc batteries 'Energizer cell' type."

- The article could just as well be named Poerscke–Wedekind cell as they, like Edison improved the cell further. But the basic chemistry hasn't changed, has it? Therefore the cell type is still Lalande-Chaperon! --Arny (talk) 14:20, 11 August 2021 (UTC) [reply ]
