JavaScript component library

Mobiscroll is a commercial JavaScript user interface component library used for scheduling, calendaring, and date and time selection in web applications.[1] [2] It is developed by Acid Media SRL, a Romanian software company based in Târgu Mureș, Romania.[3] Mobiscroll has been included in third-party comparisons of JavaScript scheduling and calendar components alongside products such as FullCalendar, Bryntum, DHTMLX, KendoReact, DevExtreme, and Webix.[2] [4]

History

[edit ]

Acid Media SRL was incorporated in Târgu Mureș, Romania, and is registered with the Romanian National Trade Register Office.[3] Public references to Mobiscroll date back to at least 2013, when Acid Media / Mobiscroll was listed among companies attending the Business of Software Conference in Boston, Massachusetts.[5] Between 2013 and 2014, the product was also distributed under the Acid Media brand through the official jQuery plugins registry maintained by the jQuery Foundation.[6]

Products

[edit ]

Mobiscroll's product line includes a JavaScript user interface component library for scheduling and calendar interfaces, and a calendar synchronization product marketed as Mobiscroll Connect.[1] [2]

Mobiscroll UI

[edit ]

The UI component library includes an event calendar, a scheduler for single and multiple resources, a timeline view, a date and time picker, and form components.[1] [2]

According to a 2020 review published on DZone, the Event Calendar supports multiple layout modes including day, week, month, agenda, and resource-based scheduling views.[1] A 2024 article in Smashing Magazine described the component as prioritizing responsiveness across desktop and mobile screen sizes, and noted support for drag and drop, time zone handling, Google Calendar integration, and visual theme customization via CSS.[2]

Mobiscroll Connect

[edit ]

Mobiscroll also markets Mobiscroll Connect, a calendar synchronization product. The company's documentation describes support for connecting applications to external calendar services including Google Calendar, Outlook, Apple Calendar, and CalDAV-compliant systems.[a]

Supported frameworks and features

[edit ]

Mobiscroll supports multiple JavaScript frameworks, including React, Angular, Vue, jQuery, and vanilla JavaScript.[1] [2] DZone reported that the library supports three calendar systems: Gregorian, Jalali (Persian), and Hijri.[1] Smashing Magazine noted that the product includes multiple built-in visual themes — including iOS, Material, and Windows styles — and supports CSS-based customization for both light and dark variants.[2]

The library is listed in the official React community UI components resources page as a component library for React-based projects.[7]

Licensing

[edit ]

Mobiscroll UI and Mobiscroll Connect are offered as commercial software libraries under per-developer licensing. A partial open-source version of the library is available on GitHub.[8]

Reviews and comparisons

[edit ]

Mobiscroll has been included in multiple third-party reviews and comparisons of JavaScript scheduling and calendar component libraries.

In a September 2020 review published on DZone, the product was described as "a decent variant" with strong customization options and responsive design. The article noted the absence of an export feature as a limitation.[1]

A March 2024 article in Smashing Magazine included Mobiscroll among several commercial event calendar products — alongside Bryntum, KendoReact, DevExtreme, and Webix — and highlighted its responsiveness, drag-and-drop support, time zone management, and theme customization as notable characteristics. That article was published with financial support from Bryntum, a competing software vendor.[2]

A comparison published by Bryntum evaluated Mobiscroll alongside four other commercial scheduling components and identified its mobile-first design and touch-optimized interface as differentiating features, while noting the absence of dependency link support and undo/redo functionality compared to some competing products. Bryntum is a direct commercial competitor of Mobiscroll.[4]
