Motto

I have edited the section on the school motto, which isn't one but two separate phrases. I have also changed the address: the Constitution says that the name of the State is 'Ireland', not 'The Republic of Ireland', and I think we should try to be accurate about that.

Can it really be the case that boarding was ended to commemorate the 150th anniversary? It seems entirely implausible to me. Who says this is the case?

This isn't the case. It is funny though. Maybe you should take a look [1], it answers the this. (i.e. it happened 4 years before the 150th). As I understand it, it was due a) to falling numbers, b) to a shortage of Dominican Fathers available to run it, and c) "the times were changing." —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Kearnejm (talkcontribs) 18:47:36, August 19, 2007 (UTC).

Would someone be able to add something about the "geographical history" and about how the town of Newbridge has been impacted by the college?

Some things that I know about, but would like someone with more knowledge to expand on:

  • How the town's expansion has impacted on the school
  • How the college has impacted on the town in regard to housing estate names (College Farm, College Orchard, etc.)
  • When the bridge over the Liffey was built in order to access the new sports fields across the river.

Also, there is a rich history to be explored. Some things I would like to know about are:

  • The original syllabus and its emphasis on agriculture
  • When and why it changed from boys only to a co-educational school
  • When and why boarding was discontinued

The music and drama section needs to be tidied up a bit. I have removed what I deemed to be opinion and approximation. I have added two other productions (The wizard of Oz and Little Shop of Horrors), would someone please add the year that they were staged?

I'm going to attempt to rectify some other issues, feel free to discuss the changes with me.

I attempted to do something about the Background and ethos section, which I abandoned. I don't think that this section belongs in this article. I would like to suggest that the Dominican College article includes a section for this since it should be pertinent to all Dominican colleges.

What happend to the original part on all the past pupils etc, I did a lot of work on that section ! There used to be a pretty decent article about the College, in fairness having a list of musicals produced by the college does not portray all the other activities and achievments that have happened ! —Preceding unsigned comment added by TheSelector (talkcontribs) 15:48, 19 January 2009 (UTC) [reply ]
