Steven John Baumgartner (born March 26, 1951) is an American former professional football player who was a defensive end for seven seasons in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Purdue Boilermakers.[1] He played in the NFL for the New Orleans Saints from 1973 to 1977 and the Houston Oilers from 1977 to 1979.[2] In 1975, the Orlando Sentinel noted that Baumgartner had an unusual hobby as a beer-can collector.[3] Baumgartner stated that he had 1,200 beer cans lining the walls of a spare room at his house.[3]
