Project page to request technical page moves
If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
If you are here because you want an admin to approve of your new article or your proposed page move, you are in the wrong place.
- If this is your first article and you want your draft article moved to the mainspace, please submit it for review at Articles for creation, by adding the code {{subst:submit}} to the top of the draft or user sandbox page instead of listing it here.
- Because you are autoconfirmed, you can move most pages yourself. Do not request technical assistance on this page if you can do it yourself.
- If you need help determining whether it's okay to move the page to a different title, then please follow the instructions at the top of Wikipedia:Requested moves.
- To list a technical request: edit the Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
- If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.
Technical requests
Edit this section if you want to move a request between sections.
Uncontroversial technical requests
Most requests should be placed below this heading.
- Municipal police (Italy) → Polizia Locale (currently a redirect back to Municipal police (Italy)) (move · discuss) – local police forces in Italy are being reformed and will be all be referred as "Polizia Locale"; I have already made changes to the related articles accordingly Itemirus (talk) 11:31, 23 March 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- Peterborough—Kawartha (federal electoral district) (currently a redirect to Peterborough (federal electoral district)) → Peterborough (federal electoral district) (move · discuss) – Name Changed due to the Call of the 2025 Canadian federal election WanukeX (talk) 19:36, 23 March 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- Horace François Bastien Sébastiani de La Porta → Horace Sébastiani (currently a redirect back to Horace François Bastien Sébastiani de La Porta) (move · discuss) – Unnecessarily complicated (please see equivalent page at wp:fr) Technopat (talk) 23:13, 22 March 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- @Technopat I am not sure what you want to be done. The pages are correctly in their right places. with the latter redirecting correctly to the former. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 10:53, 24 March 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- Moldefjord → Moldefjorden (currently a redirect back to Moldefjord) (move · discuss) – use official name of the fjord (source: https://stadnamn.kartverket.no/fakta/497264) Jay1279 (talk) 00:15, 23 March 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- Wikipedia does not use WP:OFFICIALNAMEs by default for titles. The present title appears to be the common name.[1] — Amakuru (talk) 10:27, 23 March 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- 2023 Vietnamese Women's Football Championship (currently a redirect to 2023 Vietnamese Women's National League) → 2023 Vietnamese Women's National League (move · discuss) – For consistency with the main article Women's National League (Vietnam) and other season pages Lâm (talk) 10:52, 23 March 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- Savali Hoin Sukhachi is invalid. Must create Savali Hoin Sukhachi before requesting that it be moved to Savalyachi Janu Savali.– actual name 103.185.174.249 (talk) 15:23, 23 March 2025 (UTC) [reply ]

Requests to revert undiscussed moves
If your request involves reverting a move, place it here.
Contested technical requests
Do not insert new requests in this section. Only move requests here if the requested move has been contested.
- Oratory → Oratory (disambiguation) (currently a redirect back to Oratory) (move · discuss) – Oratory should have its own article as it's a separate topic from public speaking. ☆SuperNinja2☆ TALK! 16:55, 22 March 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- Have you written a draft article? 162 etc. (talk) 17:00, 22 March 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- No, should I? ☆SuperNinja2☆ TALK! 21:43, 22 March 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- Yes, we're not going to move a page to make way for something that doesn't exist... Cheers — Amakuru (talk) 10:02, 23 March 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- Ok then I will create it. The draft article title should be like this draft:Oratory, right? ☆SuperNinja2☆ TALK! 10:25, 23 March 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- @Super ninja2: Yes, that’s a good place to write it. Once you write the article and it’s ready for publishing, you can come back here and request the move then. cyberdog958 Talk 18:19, 23 March 2025 (UTC) [reply ]

- Vices and Virtues (Art of Dying album) → Vices and Virtues (currently a redirect instead to Vices & Virtues) (move · discuss) – Unnecessary disambiguator. Vices and Virtues is currently a disambiguation page for two articles which can be handled by a hatnote; the different spellings distinguish the releases. Miklogfeather (talk) 18:13, 22 March 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- Oppose. I've restored the primary redirect at Vices and Virtues. WP:ONEOTHER; the Panic! at the Disco album is a clear primary topic. "and" / "&" is not sufficient disambiguation. 162 etc. (talk) 20:07, 22 March 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- Faisal I of Iraq → Faisal I (currently a redirect back to Faisal I of Iraq) (move · discuss) – Consensus to move in a RM which originally suggested moving Faisal II to Faisal II of Iraq. Jeffrey34555 (talk) 17:49, 22 March 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- This is a WP:NOTOTHERPAGES issue - the discussion should have been relisted as a multi-move, especially given that the current title is the result of a move discussion on that talk page. * Pppery * it has begun... 19:54, 22 March 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- Nickelodeon (Australian TV channel) → Nickelodeon (Australia) (currently a redirect instead to Nickelodeon (Australia and New Zealand)) (move · discuss) – Remove unnecessary disambiguator "TV channel" per the NCBC guideline relative to the parent "Nickelodeon" article name, citing Nickelodeon (Israel). Intrisit (talk) 18:37, 20 March 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- This one doesn't work, since "Nickelodeon" can also refer to unrelated topics. See Nickelodeon (disambiguation). In fact, Nickelodeon (UK and Ireland), Nickelodeon (Middle East and North Africa), and Nickelodeon (Sub-Saharan Africa) should be reverted back to their stable titles. 162 etc. (talk) 01:39, 21 March 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- University of Hawaiʻi → University of Hawaiʻi System (currently a redirect back to University of Hawaiʻi) (move · discuss) – in accordance with the article JIanansh (talk) 18:48, 16 March 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- The https://www.hawaii.edu/ website just says "University of Hawaiʻi". So does the seal of the institution. A few places seem to include "System", but it is deemphasized – e.g. in smaller font. The "About" page is titled "About the University of Hawaiʻi". I suspect the common name does not include "System". It seems somewhat similar to the situation for University of California (which is also a system rather than a single university). — BarrelProof (talk) 00:55, 17 March 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- Trümmerfrau → Trümmerfrauen (currently a redirect back to Trümmerfrau) (move · discuss) – Make title plural, as article is about, per short description: "Female German and Austrian rebuilders after World War II" IOHANNVSVERVS (talk) 18:40, 16 March 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- See WP:SINGULAR. C F A 21:23, 17 March 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- Cinnamon Girl → Cinnamon Girl (Neil Young song) (currently a redirect back to Cinnamon Girl) (move · discuss) – Though the Neil Young song has been covered by several artists and is the song with more views, the Lana del Rey song has been certified platinum in four countries, making it more successful commercially. GiankM. M (talk) 22:01, 17 March 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- Commercial success isn't a metric used for determining the primary topic for a term, so the Lana Del Rey song being certified platinum anywhere is fully irrelevant. The Neil Young song is likely the primary topic for the term "Cinnamon Girl" per WP:PT1 as it is receives more page views than all other songs combined: pageview stats, and likely WP:PT2 for long-term significance. - Napoli Piazza Amedeo station → Napoli Piazza Amedeo railway station (currently a redirect back to Napoli Piazza Amedeo station) (move · discuss) – According to the standards, it is a railway station –yeagvr · ✉ 19:02, 14 March 2025 (UTC) {{{sig}}}[reply ]
- Which standards? C F A 21:17, 17 March 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- I was going to contest this, since the opposite move was performed two years ago Special:Diff/1165808254, but it looks like the person who did that move was none other than Yeagvr. Not sure how to handle this. Toadspike [Talk] 10:22, 19 March 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- @Yeagvr Okay, I'm contesting this because the original move rationale (concise) makes sense. It is a railway station, but that doesn't have to be in the title. Toadspike [Talk] 10:24, 19 March 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- DXAM-FM → DXAM (currently a redirect instead to DXRR-AM) (move · discuss) – Callsign is held by only an FM station. It is not held by either AM or TV station. See FM listing and AM listing from NTC. SBKSPP (talk) 05:40, 13 March 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- Does the Philippines assign suffixed call signs at all if there is no other station with the same base call sign in another service? e.g. if DXYZ-FM and DXYZ-TV exist and DXYZ becomes DXAA, does DXYZ-FM automatically become DXYZ? Sammi Brie (she/her · t · c) 22:30, 15 March 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- @SBKSPP Moving to contested as there is no response to Sammi's question. Cowboygilbert - (talk) ♥ 18:10, 19 March 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- Agrahayana → Margashirsha (currently a redirect back to Agrahayana) (move · discuss) – WP:COMMONNAME based on the nakshatra Mrigashira, Agrahayana is the less common alternative name. — Hemant Dabral (📞 • ✒) 05:26, 15 March 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- @Hemant Dabral Are you able to prove that it is the WP:COMMONNAME because of google scholar, it shows up as a pair as being both. Agrahayana is also mentioned more than the latter on Scholar. Cowboygilbert - (talk) ♥ 18:10, 19 March 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- U R Rao Satellite Centre → U. R. Rao Satellite Centre (move · discuss) – Standard Indian name format ―– AkshadevTM 🗿 07:45, 21 March 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- @Akshadev This is clearly not the name used by the Centre itself [2]. This WP:OFFICIALNAME can be overridden if you show a WP:COMMONNAME in sources, but the references in the article show no evidence of such a common name. Toadspike [Talk] 07:56, 21 March 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
- Regardless of whether the subject is Indian or not, MOS:INITS says to include the punctuation marks. Unless there is overwhelming evidence that independent reliable sources do not include dots for this subject, I would support this move per the Wikipedia Manual of Style. On the other hand, I am having trouble finding reliable sources that include the dots. — BarrelProof (talk) 18:37, 22 March 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
