Balakair Paddabil is a wetland region located at Balakair of Karpara Union under Gopalganj Sadar Upazila in Gopalganj District, Bangladesh.[1] [2] Balakair Paddabil is renowned as a tourist attraction due to the presence of the Lotus flower, located in an area of approximately one-thousand bighas (2.5 km2) of wetland.[3] [4] [5] It is the only area in Bangladesh known to contain the lotus flower. Domestic and international tourists are attracted to Balakair Paddabil during the lotus flower season.[6]

Location

It is located in Balakair Paddabil, in the Gopalganj Sadar Upazila of Gopalganj District.

The distance from the district headquarters of Gopalganj by road is approximately fifteen or sixteen kilometers to the northeast. To the east lies Bil Bajunia, to the west is Bangram, to the north is Krishnapur, and to the south are the areas of Manikhar, Bhojergati, and Kathi.

Tourist attraction

A 'Padda Fuler Mela' fair is held annually to attract tourists. Various national dailies cover this event in both electronic and print media.[7]
