Hannibal B. Johnson (born January 27th, 1959) is an African-American writer, educator, and Activist who specializes in teaching African-American history. He also is associated with non-profit leadership, and community services.

He is most well known for his efforts in preserving the history of the Greenwood District[1] , also known as Black Wall Street. He is more specifically known for his work revolving around the 1921 Tulsa race massacre.[2] For his contributions to through literature and activism, Hannibal was inducted into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame on November 18th, 2021[3] .

Background

Hannibal was born on 1959[4] in Clarksville, Arkansas. Hannibal would spend his graduate from Northside Highschool[2] before moving outwards for his education. He is a graduate of the University of Arkansas, and Harvard Law School.[2] He is also credited as an author, consultant, and has taught law as college professor at various locations[5] .

Hannibal has also served as a Commissioner on the Oklahoma Advisory Council to the U.S. Civil Rights Commission and currently serves on the 400 Years of the African American History Commission.[6] Hannibal has also served on multiple educational committees, including the Tulsa Race Massacre Centennial Commission[7] , and being the Curator for the Greenwood Rising Historical Center[8] .
