Spring is Where?
April 24, 2005
Today it went beyond a few flying flakes and into a few inches on the
ground. But the weather didn't affect meeting a cousin in a roadside
landmark and checking out an impressive Corvette collection with a good
friend.
April 23, 2005
Nasty weather continues with white stuff in the air. It didn't stick so I
was spared driving through drifts but there were some rather impressive
puddles.
April 22, 2005
From Ohio's east edge to near the meeting location in Upper Sandusky. Neat
roads, neat cars, crappy weather. Two out of three ain't bad.
Prelude
It was barely March when I received a post card from the
Ohio Lincoln
Highway League. It told me that there would be a league meeting toward
the end of April and not much else. There were no details beyond date and
location but it didn't need them. Early March is cold and wet. Sometimes
even snowy. At times like that, it doesn't take much to get me thinking
about a road trip and that post card was more than enough.
I've been a league member for a few years but my only contact has been reading the newsletters. I thought peeking in on the meeting might be fun. I dropped league president Mike Buettner an e-note and pulled out his "A History and Road Guide of the Lincoln Highway in Ohio". Of course I've been on various bits and pieces of the LH in Ohio but have never actually targeted it. It wasn't long before a dash to and from a meeting "up north" turned into a three day drive across the state.
