Hello. 👋
First of all, thanks for building Stockpile, it looks very useful!

One thing I’m missing is better control over data storage and/or backup. Right now I don’t see where Stockpile stores its database and how to back it up easily.
It would be great to have an option to set a custom storage location (e.g. Nextcloud folder or network share).
This would make Stockpile much safer to use in professional environments.

What do you think?

Hi, Stockpile stores its database in GSettings. For a custom file, do you mean ability to export and import, or actually saving to an external file? Import and export are indeed options I should have in the program, but saving to an external may take some extra overhead. I will consider it for the new release of Stockpile, when it comes out; I first must program the function for handling automatic item removal, then I can focus on this: :)

Hi, and thanks for the quick reply!
I think both options, export/import as well as the ability to point to an external storage location, would be really valuable and would make Stockpile a more reliable application.

Personally, I would prefer the latter option, since I use Nextcloud (both privately and for work) to store and access all important data across devices. In that workflow, simple export/import wouldn’t really help, whereas being able to set an external storage location would fit perfectly.
