The concept is to let people give the money that others then spend. So, like I provide 10ドル but my friend gets to choose what projects to pledge to etc. This was straightforward with a wallet-style money-holding approach, but not sure how to make it work without that and what legal concerns there are.
Perhaps we could simply track that a different user account will actually be charged for the next $X on behalf of another account. The crowdmatching counts the two accounts separately, but the charge to stripe is consolidated in one account.
Either way, we wouldn't want such a feature to make it too trivial for one person to create 100 accounts to game the system...
Two important notes:
-
We suggested in our original fundraising campaign that some amount (mostly 5ドル) of some donations could be available to donate through the crowdmatching system. We'll need to either honor that or make a statement after full launch that our hopes for such a system aren't available.

Open Collective just added the beginnings of a "Virtual Card" just like this. We should check how they do it both technically and legally.
