This may be something discogs_client does not support, so we would do native api calls.

Note that currently the Discogs API does not have endpoints for this:

https://www.discogs.com/developers/#page:user-collection

Through the Discogs website, users can create custom notes fields. There is not yet an API method for creating and deleting these fields, but they can be listed, and the values of the fields on any instance can be modified.

Meh, learn to read. Modification is possible, just new custom fields can not be created.
