LibreWolf Version

147.0-1

Operating System

Windows 10

Installation Source / Package

Windows Installer (.exe)

Description

The ISSUE: A popup error message across the upper part of the screen: "This page is slowing down Librewolf. To speed up your browser, stop this page." with a STOP icon.

I have listed the websites where this error is happening repeatedly, in the "Exceptions" for Librewolf's Settings. But Librewolf continues to target these websites.

I have no interest in speeding up the browser. I just don't want the shows I am watching to be stopped with repeated bufferring and this Librewolf error message (it just started about a month ago.)

Otherwise, Librewolf has been amazing. The only repeated issue is when Alphabet puts trackers on Librewolf's software on my PC to control my access to youtube videos. When I get the "Log in and prove you are not a bot error, I have to uninstall / reinstall Librewolf to get rid of Alphabet's surveillance tracker. But I told you all about that over a year ago, and I guess there isn't anything you can do to stop this illegal harassment by Alphabet from your end...

This is not an LibreWolf issue, LibreWolf is not "targeting" this website.
You get this message on any website that is consuming an unusual amount of CPU or Memory resources, which "hangs" the process.

Thanks for responding!

So what platform is producing this error message and stopping the feed over and over with no way to stop the error message?

Windows? My ISP? Because I've never seen this error message before, and it doesn't show up on ANY browser except Librewolf.

It is LibreWolf that produces this message. You would also be getting the same message if you had instead used Firefox.
It is just a notification that LibreWolf has detected that a specific tab is using a lot of your resources and is informing you about it.

So how do I turn it off? I have tried listing the websites in Librewolf's Settings "Exceptions" but the error message and feed interruption keeps happening.

The feed interruptions happens because of the website, not because of LibreWolf.
Something on the website is probably broken, the message is just a symptom not the cause of it.

So something about the website is triggering Librewolf to identify the website as being a memory hog and stop the feed. So, I guess my question devolves into - how do I get Librewolf to stop identifying memory hog websites if I "Except" them and quit interfering.

The censoship, monitoring, tracking, search engine interference/suppression and just general interference on the internet is now so extreme, that those of us with over 75,000 hours in front of a screen - are very sensitive to changes like this one. This error message started showing up for the first time, about a month ago.

So, please forgive me, but I can't believe that all of the websites I want to "Eexcept," that I have never had this issue with before, just suddenly broke somehow about a month ago. It's a stretch.

My take? Alphabet bailed out Mozilla in 2021 to the tune of 450ドル million dollars when Mitchell Baker was CEO (she may still be). Before that, Alphabet involved itself in Mozilla Firefox development to make sure the open source evolution was controlled. This destroyed the EUI and "googlized it." The independents hated this and let Mozilla know through the feedback portal. So the feedback portal was removed and the entire interface was googleized even more. I did a 4 year detour on PaleMoon which became a massive "tracker for money" operation.

Librewolf is an offshoot of Mozilla. So, where Mozilla goes, Librewolf goes... Mozilla is interfering to a new level, so Librewolf is interfering to a new level. Back to the browser trials. You should see the spreadsheet I've built on Big Tech controlled browsers/SEs vs Still Independent browsers. It's extensive and there are almost no independent browsers because of the cancer of Chromium.

Thank you for your time today.

For the 3rd time, we're not interfering.
You only get this info message. If the website works like crap, that that is the fault of the website and not of the info dialog you get.

There is pretty high chance that LibreWolf/Firefox will crash eventually point if you just ignore it.

Also, please keep the drama out of this issue. This is not what this issue is about.

You can see some of the relevant code here: https://searchfox.org/firefox-main/source/browser/modules/ProcessHangMonitor.sys.mjs
Other than setting a bigger timeout with browser.hangNotification.waitPeriod and hoping that, by the new time you set, the site resolves itself, there isn't much you can do. The event loop has been blocked, and the script the site is running either is written poorly or is doing very heavy computations so that nothing else is able to be processed until it yields again.

I would not recommend changing browser.hangNotification.waitPeriod, since if you set it too high, your entire browser may lock up if too many tabs are causing issues.

:)) Thank you for getting to the rock bottom of this issue. I do have enough IT background to appreciate the exact details on how to address this from my end. I really do appreciate your time and Librewolf itself. Every time I have to reinstall Librewolf to remove Alphabet's Youtube surveillance/tracking code, MS Windows 10 demands that I not do so, and I have to chose "Run Anyway" to continue with the re-install. So I know Librewolf is doing a lot of things right if MS doesn't want it to be loaded on Windows operating devices.

As for the drama, I remember the real Internet very clearly. What we have now is a censored, tracked, filtered POS. As a researcher, I have to fight for every scrap of information now. And if I need to find something to purchase, I am very sick of getting 6-7 screens of Amazon, Walmart, Target, search results, before any of the actual sellers of the products appears. And then there's Cloudflare everywhere - a dirty corporation according to human rights groups, and US Military IT darling - collecting our browsing history with every click. So, I will NEVER respect the Internet's management community for letting Big Tech interfere and perform surveillance to this degree.

When Meta, Alphabet, MS, Apple, etc., were able to literally stop the dying and injured from the C19 injection globally - from describing what happened to them when they were lied too, coerced, or forced to take the nano tech filled deadly C19 injection - the Internet's managers lost the right to tell me to lose the drama. Chldren have died by the thousands in the USA alone.
