Version 127.0-1 of Librewolf (latest as of now) is taking forever to open. Tried both personal profile and stock one, even in safe mode.
Does not happen in previous version of Librewolf and latest firefox version.
OS: Windows 11 10.0.22621 build 22621
Librewolf 127.0-1 super slow startup #1903
Ditto. Each time when first opened with no other sessions running. At times I've clicked to open additional times, thinking I had a screen-tap problem and not realised until I get a previous session not closed issue. Once one instance is open, any repeat click Windows open fast.
Windows 23H2 OS build 22631.3593
I've tried it on my laptop: Windows 23H2, same build as Camel.
Mine starts, well, I wouldn't call it slow in the sense that it takes forever, but it surely isn't as fast as I'd like to see.
I have no idea why it would be slow.. I'm curious.. If you would try the portable version of LW, and see if that's slow too.
I'm asking because librewolf portable has this stub program that we run, and then directly start LW from that. If it's something in the windows shell, Portable could perhaps start faster than the normally installed one?
@threadpanic I do use the portable version installed via scoop official bucket. I've figured out that now librewolf takes something like 20 seconds to start.
That is really odd, you see the portable version is supposed to update itself, not scoop doing that.
Maybe that's what it is, librewolf-portable.exe initializing itself and running silently?
It doesn't seem to be the problem actually. Other people on reddit are experiencing the same thing even without installing it via Scoop.
librewolf-portable.exe is not running in background I think
I grabbed a portable version from PortableApps. It takes very close to the same time to open as the installed version. Portable version has no extensions. The difference in load time is negligible (and rules out extensions and any tweaks in the installed version as a source of trouble).

It should, though.
And if you want to use LibreWolf via Scoop without using the portable launcher, see https://github.com/ltguillaume/schep
As for the delays, I'd say, check the Windows Event Viewer for any problems during the start of LibreWolf maybe? And what about a virusscanner?
Tried to install librewolf-portable from your website, the problem is persisting
I originally posted this very issue here which was for LibreWolf 126.01-1.
After doing some inspection, I found that Windows' AntiMalware Service Executable would open and take up some CPU usage right after opening LibreWolf. From what I can gather, it appears that there's something as of recent that's causing a scan to be done before every launch of LibreWolf.
To get around this, go to your virus and threat protection settings, scroll all the way down to exclusions, and then add an exclusion for LibreWolf's executable by selecting file, and then navigating to C:\Program Files\LibreWolf\librewolf.exe

@HazzyDevil It works for me. Thanks.

No luck, still slow. Installing the portable version from librewolf.net and adding it to the Defender exclusions is slightly better but still not enough.
Reinstalling it after a while fixed it, damned Windows!
No need to add exclusion to Defender
No due date set.
No dependencies set.
