Eggs #282

Preface: I didn't see a discussions tab, so that's why this is opened as an issue.

I was just browsing Ruby projects on the explore section and came across this, and thought i'd look thru it to see how you implemented everything. And I noticed the eggs. A whole subsystem just for eggs.

And for some reason I find this absolutely hilarious, and would love to know the lore behind this if possible. ty

I don't know if Etienne ever answered you about this, but the eggs subsystem was one of the first we created for this site. We have local farmers who deliver eggs to us 2x weekly, and it seemed like a good fit:

• coordinating the logistics of egg ordering by 30 families who may or may not want eggs
• setting a maximum number of eggs based on farmer availability
• emailing people to remind them of egg ordering times
• emailing the egg order to each farmer automatically
• notifying people that the eggs have arrived

It's possible to do with a spreadsheet and some automated reminder emails, but this is a more complete solution, and as you point out, it's entertaining to have a site supporting all these weird little personalizations.
