From the start, Project Elara was founded on the premise that all our work should be open to the maximum extent possible. This is why we historically released our work under an exclusively public-domain license. However, we have also understood that public domain is unacceptable for some contributors as it requires giving up all copyright on your work. Therefore, while a large part of Project Elara's work is still public domain, some of it is under other open-source licenses (primarily MIT license).
Those who wish to release their contributions on a non-public-licensed repository (see list here) into the public domain can do so on a purely voluntary basis. If you are a contributor to Project Elara and wish to do so, please respond with I agree to dedicate my contributions to the public domain.
UPDATE 7/7/2026: It will be assumed by default that this waiver applies to all past and future contributions. If you only want to dedicate your past contributions to the public domain and not any future contributions, please let us know in your response.
