Ability to Recognize Artist Separators #177

Hi, I've been using this lovely music player for a while now. While I've quite enjoyed it, the fact that it doesn't handle artist separators (e.g. feat., &, and, comma) sometimes ticks me off. It would be nice for artist separators to be handled properly to clean up conjoined artist entries not only in the artists tab, but also in the main album display (highlighted in red in the pictures). Though, there are exceptions to this (e.g. band names like "You and The Explosion Band") which simply have these separators to begin with. An idea would be to have a whitelist section for specific entries to not get affected by artist separators.

(削除) Additionally, it would be nice if there's a manual configuration that one can do to sort artist aliases into one entry in the artist tab. With that, you wouldn't need to go to their specific aliases to access albums/songs under those names (highlighted with blue in the picture). (削除ここまで)

Have a nice day :D

Hey! Sorry for the late reply, I always like to respond within a week whenever I can but I had to take a short hiatus for a few weeks due to university and didn't have the time.

So it might be a couple releases before I can get to it, because I already have a bit of a backlog I want to get through, but handling artist separators is definitely something I can work on. The whitelist idea is a good one, and actually the lack of a whitelist was my problem with music players that supported separators, so that resolves the big blocker I would have had against adding this.

In regards to manually configuring entries and setting aliases like you are describing however, I'd be hesitant to work on something like that because I feel like it would introduce a lot more complexity into how artists/albums are handled and would open up a lot of potential for bugs, when this is something I think would be better addressed by editing the metadata with a tag editor. For something like the entries you highlighted with blue, I'd suggest just updating all the artist tags to be the same with a tag editor instead. Maybe in the future once I've stabilized all of Recordbox's features I'll revisit it, but I'd have to wait and see how everything turns out by then.

Hi, thanks for the reply. Glad that at least the ideas are considered.

To be honest, yeah lmao. I ended up retagging them to the same artist for a separate reason. Might not be the best of ideas, but was worth a shot lol. Good luck on your stuff :D
