[Bug]: Volume slider is not a slider #239

Open

What happened?

Tried to adjust volume of a track, opened what I assume should be a volume slider and could not adjust it because I assume again the slider is way too short than it is supposed to be.

After trying to drag it horizontally/vertically I found that vertically it works however its either 100% volume or 0% volume. Sent a video as well (warning: loud).

Switched between Materia/Dracula theme and also tried changing the default GTK font, also tried running the app in XWayland with env GDK_BACKEND=x11 tonearm. All had the same slider problem.

What was your goal?

Expected Tonearm to display a normal looking slider for more fine-grained volume control.

Impact on usability

Tonearm is mostly useable

I genuinely have no idea how this happens. Have you tried with default Adwaita theme?

Works on the default Adwaita theme:

Though when I went to switch back to Materia Tonearm keeps using Adwaita, so I force launched it with GTK_THEME='Materia-dark' tonearm:

And it fixed itself!

I have noticed a discrepancy in my original post the sidebar was using Adwaita dark mode however as seen in the video the rest of the application was using Materia. Reference pics:

Broken Adwaita/Materia mix

Edit:

Rebooted to check for persistent problems, the app rejects to use the system theme and instead chooses Adwaita dark mode (reference Adwaita picture), besides that everything works fine:

Edit 2:

I also managed to get it back into the buggy adwaita/materia mix state (this also includes the volume slider being broken) by deleting ~/.config/dconf and redoing my theme through nwg-look, also note-worthy is that when I first got it to be Adwaita I had to literally delete the themes from /usr/share/themes so the right part of the UI would become Adwaita as well.

The underlying issue seems to be that a UI component is not getting the memo to change the theme:
image

This set of commands is not enough to make Tonearm completely switch to Adwaita it would still have the buggy mix.
Only after completely wiping the theme does all of the UI elements update.
